They complete the necessary formalities on behalf of their customers for changing their address in all relevant records and documents.

Besides notifying all the organizations about your change of address, these private firms, as well as the postal services, also offer to hold the mail that has been directed to your old address and redirect it to your new address. For this, the companies usually charge a fee, which is reasonable when you think of all the time and effort you would have to put in for doing it yourself.
